These writing units are so great that I purchased the bundle even after buying two of the units separately. I love the order of the lessons, which provide plenty of opportunities for students to write multiple pieces within a genre. The materials are very well thought out and well put together. I’m so glad I found this quality resource that includes anchor charts and other helpful materials.
This has been such a game changer for my students as I get used to teaching writing in fourth grade, first year in fourth! It is very step by step and students feel very successful. They are all participating every day. I wished I had found this earlier in the year and it is going to be a staple in my room from day 1 next year!!!!! Thank you!

Jen’s course, Elementary Writing Renovation, is a highly useful opportunity to learn how to become a better writing teacher. It is organized in a sequential way and easy to follow. All the information is research-based and reflects the Common Core. Jen’s knowledge base is wide and her instruction is excellent. I am walking away with a vast amount of resources. I feel so much better about teaching writing and actually look forward to beginning next year with all her suggestions and routines! This course has taken the anxiety out of teaching writing.
If you are struggling with teaching writing and grammar, this course is for you! Jen explains common mistakes teachers make and shares research-based strategies that really work. She walks you through teaching the writing process and breaking it into one focus skill a day. I appreciate that she not only explains her ideas but also models how she would teach the lessons. I’ve used Writer’s Workshop before, but her guidance makes it far more manageable for students (and me). Writing is something I usually don’t look forward to teaching, but I can’t wait to use her lessons this fall!
This was a wonderful resource to help incorporate grammar into my writing block in an effective but low-stress way. The students were engaged by the lesson slides and the activities. They were able to apply what they learned to their own writing, and it has made a big difference in their knowledge and usage of grammar.
This has everything you need to teach grammar and writing, all laid out day by day. I like that the writing workshop keeps all the students together. It provides short, daily grammar lessons based on mentor sentences. Students practice writing their own sentences modeled after the mentor sentence to reinforce the grammar skill. They also love the weekly Boom Cards. Thanks for providing everything needed to teach grammar and writing!

Grammar
Most grammar programs rely on worksheets and correcting mistakes in isolation. This curriculum is different- it’s research-based and teaches grammar in the context of authentic writing. Students learn skills through mentor sentences and immediately apply them in their own writing.
Writing
Many writing curriculums overwhelm teachers with too many materials that take too much time to implement. This curriculum provides simple, effective writing workshop lessons with explicit and scaffolded instruction, making it easy to teach and helping students become confident, successful writers.
It is recommended to structure your writing block like this:
Grammar Mini-Lesson (10 min): Teach a grammar skill in context through authentic writing activities.
Writing Mini-Lesson & Modeling (10–15 min): Use mentor texts and posters to teach a writing skill, then model it in your own writing.
Independent Writing Time (15–30 min): Students apply both grammar and writing skills to their own writing.
Sharing Time (5 min): Students share their writing with a partner or the class.
This curriculum can be paired with your existing program or used as a stand-alone resource. Many teachers integrate it with what they already have, but most find they don’t need additional materials since it provides everything needed to teach and practice both grammar and writing effectively.
There’s virtually no prep required! All materials are ready to go – you just print what you need, and you’re set to teach. Lessons come fully prepared with slides, mentor texts, posters, and activities, so you can focus on teaching instead of planning.
