How can I fit grammar and writing into my ELA block?

Writing Mini-Lesson & Modeling (10–15 min): Use mentor texts and posters to teach a writing skill, then model it in your own writing.
Independent Writing Time (15–30 min): Students apply both grammar and writing skills to their own writing.
Sharing Time (5 min): Students share their writing with a partner or the class.
What if my school already has a writing curriculum?
