- Unit 1: Mastering Sentences – Lessons help students write complete sentences and expand them effectively. Activities include identifying sentences vs. fragments, unscrambling and expanding sentences, exploring different sentence types, combining sentences, and using transitions, appositives, and subordinating conjunctions to add complexity.
- Unit 2: Planning Paragraphs – Students learn to organize and write a well-structured paragraph. Activities include note-taking strategies, crafting topic sentences, supporting details, concluding sentences, and using single-paragraph outlines (SPOs) to draft clear, cohesive paragraphs.
- Unit 3: Revising Paragraphs – Lessons focus on revising and editing strategies. Activities include varying sentences, enhancing topic and concluding sentences, expanding vocabulary, adding transitions, and using unelaborated paragraphs and explicit feedback to guide revisions.
