This scope and sequence include 5 writing units: (1) Introduction to Writing; (2) Personal Narrative Writing; (3) Realistic Fiction Writing; 4) Informational Writing; (5) Opinion Writing. All lesson titles are listed along with the objectives for each lesson.

Writing Samples

Includes sample graphic organizers and drafts that teachers can use for modeling.

Daily Lesson Plans

Includes 150 daily lesson plans (30 weeks' worth) that guide students through the writing process for a total of 9 writing assignments. Each lesson plan follows the "writing workshop" model and consists of a mini-lesson, teacher modeling, student writing time, and sharing time.

Writing Paper

Offers printable writing paper that students use for drafting and publishing their writing.

Mentor Texts

Includes over 70 attractive writing posters (available in both color and black/white) used to display key information and writing strategies taught in the mini-lessons.

Conferencing Forms

Includes a conferencing schedule and forms for daily writing conferences with students.

Posters

Includes a list of 9 mentor texts used to showcase writing strategies for each unit. YouTube read-alouds of the mentor texts are available.

Rubrics

How much time will the writing lessons take to teach?

Each writing workshop lesson is designed to take between 30-50 minutes, depending on the amount of time you have to teach writing.

What do I do once I purchase the curriculum?
